Two Snakes Cause Power Outages in Richmond, Va

The sound of 2 Snakes should not be confused with the sounds of 2 Chainz

The two are completely different

But after the lights went out for thousands of Dominion Power customers last night the thought of listening to T.R.U REALigion would have been a lot more preferred than the thought of two snakes playing hide and go seek on a power line….

According to WTVR CBS6 out of Richmond, Va… Two power outages throughout the evening left thousands temporarily without power. The cause of both, said Dominion Virginia Power, seems to be snakes.

How creepy…

Virginia Dominion Power said the first incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. and attributed the outage to a snake. It slithered into a substation and created an equipment failure.(The devil is busy and turning off the lights!)

The second outage this evening knocked out electricity in the East End of Henrico and in parts of Hanover County. This outage affected around 33,000 people combined in the Mechanicsville, New Kent, eastern Henrico and Sandston area.

Dominion said those outages would be fixed by around 2 a.m.and at that time 6,488 outages remain. Those numbers change quickly, though, keep in mind.

Their last update, at around 1 a.m., read:

Last update for the night.I just talked to operations and they are hoping to have all service restored around 1:30 am. The cause, (and I know this is going to sound crazy since we had the exact same thing happen earlier) was a snake. The snake was on a substation breaker that caused the equipment failure. Thanks to everyone that reached out tonight.
