You earn platinum status when you sell one million units or over. Well, she has sold over 4 million units, I thought she was banking from her first album but it looks like the second album has her pockets “rolling in the deep).
Stores haven’t been able to keep her album on the shelves since it was released in February. It only took her one month to go platinum.
Her hit single “Someone Like You” reached double -platinum status by itself, racking in over 2 million U.S. downloads. (source)
